At the Mobility Forum St. Moritz, everything revolves around our mobility - consequently not only about classic mobility, but also about the mobility of the present and the future.
One of the most important topics is the question of fuel. At the moment, everyone is talking about electromobility and, unfortunately, politicians are also proclaiming it to be a form of future mobility with practically no alternatives. But there is much more to it. Science and industry agree that room must also be given to other concepts.
For example, eFuels are charting a promising course that should not be neglected. Saudi Aramco is conducting research on the subject, Porsche and Siemens are building a large plant for the production of eFuels in Puntas Arenas (Chile), and numerous other companies are also working on this.
But mobility naturally also relates to other areas: Autonomous driving, urban planning, traffic management, local public transport - the number of individual topics is almost inexhaustible. But what are more lifestyle topics that only have a short-term life cycle? Which are the fundamentally important topics that will actually have a tangible impact on our everyday lives? Which topics have what it takes to change society?
eFuels may be the only viable alternative for classic vehicles to be able to move them safely in the future. At the same time, however, other issues are emerging, particularly in the classic vehicle sector, which will be discussed at the Mobility Forum St. Moritz: Future Generation, insurance of collections or more generally the future of the classic car hobby, which are also discussed, for example, within the framework of the parliamentary group Automobile Culture, the FIVA or the FIA.
Other topics include collection management, risk assessment, value development (see the recent sale of the Uhlenhaut Coupe for 135 million), importance of crypto-currencies and NFTs in the collector vehicle market, to name a few.
This and much more can be discussed and presented at the Mobility Forum St. Moritz. In the process, the events, which are open to the public throughout, will be broadcast via live stream and will also be available online for subsequent viewing."

"The car as storage - bidirectional charging in practice"
Dr. Uwe Koenzen, Koenzen Planning Office - eMobility

Bidirectional charging - i.e. charging and discharging the vehicle battery - opens up new and useful usage options for battery electric vehicles. The increasingly larger vehicle batteries offer the possibility in both private and commercial environments to use the battery capacity as buffer storage for locally generated renewable electricity. In this way, the idle times of the vehicles can be used sensibly and excess capacities of the regenerative sources - such as the daily peaks of the photovoltaic systems - can be stored according to the usage requirements and thus used locally. In the future, control energy aspects will also gain in importance.

In a review of 25 years of electric drive and prototype development, the enormous development of battery electric drive concepts will be shown using selected automotive icons as examples. The current state of development will be highlighted with a focus on the new and extremely innovative Direct eDrive drive. This transmission- and differential-free drive offers great potential in terms of efficiency and performance. The technology will be demonstrated and explained in detail using the specific project vehicle "e01“.

Innovation and disruption in the world of auction houses and collecting
Speakers: Sebastian Fahey (Managing Director of Sotheby’s EMEA), Peter Wallman (Presenter, Chairman EMEA RM Sotheby’s), Josh Pullan (Global Director of Sotheby’s Luxury)
Language: English
The world of collecting is going through a period of great change and evolution. New generations and markets are now approaching this world and they will be the collectors of the future. Technology will play a fundamental role in transforming and making the world of collecting easier and more efficient. This talk will be dedicated to topics such as: new digitisation processes in the collectors’ scene, online auctions, buying and selling with cryptocurrencies, the world of NFTs, digital art, metaverse, blockchain and gaming, the new online sealed-bid process.
-
First part: The role of technology in the collectors’ market and new ways to buy and sell at auction: the rise of online auctions, the online sealed-bid method, buying and selling with cryptocurrencies. What is the role of technology and digitisation in the world of collecting and what positive impact can it have in the future? How have the tastes and trends of the new generations changed and what role is Sotheby's playing in this transformation? What are the new trending objects in the luxury market today and how does this world differ from the pre-digital era? (It can be a good opportunity to show off new trends such as trainers, handbags etc.)
-
Second part: NFT, the Metaverse and digital Art: What is an NFT? What are the real utilities, benefits, pros, and cons of “Non-Fungible Tokens”? What is the Metaverse and why is everyone talking about it? What is Sotheby’s and RM Sotheby’s role in this space? This part should excite and capture the attention of the crowd. It must get people excited about the world of NFT and convince them of the true artistic value of this world. We will show some interesting art projects, project videos and animations, and play music from NFT artists. We can here do a round-up of the most beautiful and interesting NFT sales that Sothebys has done and we can also talk about the most interesting NFT automotive projects we’ve been involved in in the past months (Lamborghini, Pininfarina etc.)

The future of automotive design - The interior is becoming a new centerpiece for the younger generation
Host: Anton Piëch, Founder

We discuss details because the revolution in automotive design has so far failed to materialize. But is technological progress really making our cars more beautiful?
-
Broken down to the basics, not much has changed in automotive design over the past 30 years. A hood with a radiator grille, behind it the greenhouse with two or four doors. Only the rear design makes quite boldly the segment, if we are honest. Let a child draw a car - they'll be able to match the result to just about any brand.
-
Meanwhile, everything has been tried in terms of shapes within the common car segments. Instead of creating something new, designers have then played with and designed the available surfaces in different ways - but even that has now been exhausted.
-
In fact, it's noticeable, especially with the SUV boom: Cars haven't changed; they've essentially just gotten bigger and bigger. And once a manufacturer has blown up its SUV far enough, it's up to the designer to decorate the huge areas thus created. Large lettering and expansive radiator grilles are currently popular for this purpose. But the increasing shift toward alternative drive concepts is necessitating a rethink.
-
The lower the air resistance, the greater the range. Form follows function; aesthetics grow out of efficiency. The new design language provides a stronger flow and thus enables sophisticated aerodynamics.
-
The car is visibly evolving into a living space. And the most important question will be how the passenger can use the time gained for himself. In the future, the interior will therefore be the heart of the car, where the user will experience new freedoms.
-
The new generation of "digital natives" will be very focused on this
-
The biggest transformation of recent times has therefore taken place in the interior.
-
There we now see huge screen surfaces, conventional buttons and switches disappearing. People wanted to transfer this change to the exterior accordingly, which is why narrow LED strips and elaborate light graphics are so "en vogue" today. They are intended to illustrate the technologization of cars.
-
Cars today are virtually designed around the corresponding operating system. The interior is created around the hyperscreen, and the exterior is then created around the interior.
-
And: in the end, provocation is needed. Only what polarizes really stays in the memory - the BMW kidney of the latest models is one of the best examples. But you can also see the same trend in fashion, for example with labels like Balenciaga
